A few of my current favorite tracks… After all, isn’t poetry inspired by music, lyrics, love, life, and visa versa?
Love is Mystical – Cold War Kids
You might feel invincible
And you might be afraid
Groovy Little Thing – Beres Hammond
I just love this groovy little thing we got going. Feeling this right now!
Tearing Me Up – Bob Moses
“Oh if all that you say is true
There’ll be no getting over you…”
Ruin – Shawn Mendes
“And do ya, do you remember how it felt?” This song and his “Mercy” are on the my playlist of my heart this fall…
Take It All Back – Judah & the Lion
“It’s our way of saying that our successes do not define us as people. We would give up everything we do to have the things that matter most to us: love, friends, family, ice cream.” ~Brian Macdonald
You Don’t Get Me High Anymore – Phantogram
How can I not love these lyrics: “Used to take one…Now it’s takes four…?”
Dark Necessities – Red Hot Chili Peppers
I feel like I have waited so long for this new RHCP… and relate.
i hate you i love u, i love u – gnash
This is just so real, and haunting me.
Trouble – Cage the Elephant
Find solace in love.
Something to Believe in – Young The Giant
Sweetly dark, yet hopeful. I love everything by Young the Giant.
Demons – Imagine Dragons
Under the Influence – Elle King
Just plain sexxxy.
Ophelia – The Lumineers
This song feels deeply personal, causing me to feel happy and sad. Perhaps it was the concert as we shared the venue and nothing else after that.
Hell of A Girl – Grace
Love this. Karma.
You – Seiabo Sey
Gorgeous siren sings my exact thoughts to my too-far-away ex-sweetheart… who happened to be at the same concert listening to these lyrics at the same time.
River – Bishop Briggs
Love her voice! She is finally getting the attention she deserves.
Unsteady – X Ambassadors
I wonder if my ex-sweetheart ever thinks of me when he hears this? I miss having someone to lean on.
Hallelujah – Panic At The Disco
Just plain fun! And while some may think their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody is sacriledge, Brendon hits a high note.
Work Song – Hozier
I love him. Valentine’s Day 2015 I got a one-woman concert. *sigh*
Mess is Mine – Vance Joy
Vance Joy will forever hold a special place in my love story with “him.”
Do I Wanna Know – Arctic Monkeys
Seems like this is a constant question as of late.
Million Dollar Bill – Dawes
A humorous breakup song. The narrator plans to get back at his ex-lover through unconventional means. While his ultimate goals are unreasonable, they convey the irrational thoughts of someone undergoing heartbreak.
I Am The Highway – Audioslave
One of my all-time
sing scream in the car songs.
Change – Deftones
Needs no explanation… A timeless fav. Best concert of summer 2016!
Island in the Sun – Weezer
This song will always remind me of a happy Al Scott.
Everlong – Foo Fighters
Yes, I know I have two Foo Fighters songs here…. But even nearly 20 years later this may be the most perfect song ever. Thank you Grohl for falling in love with a woman in the span of 45 minutes and capturing being “connected to someone so much, that not only do you love them physically and spiritually, but when you sing along with them you harmonise perfectly.”
Learn to Fly – Foo Fighters
Though it’s Grohl’s least favorite song on the album, the search for some sort of inspiration, the search for signs of life that will make you feel alive resonates.
Just Breathe – Pearl Jam
These lyrics are extremely intimate. I envision them being sung to me by the very one who didn’t realize he was indeed a “lucky man” to be loved so unconditionally.
How Can You Mend a Broken Heart – Al Green
You Shook Me All Night Long – AC/DC
Is it any wonder my first son was born in 1981? 35 years later several of my friends use this as my ringtone.
