NaPoWriMo Day 6: Today’s prompt springs from the form known as the aubade. These are morning poems, about dawn and daybreak. Many aubades take the form of lovers’ morning farewells, but . . . today is Monday.
I squint and groan
It cannot be
How did this (b)light
Wash over me?
I thee do swear
Just seconds before
We were on the floor
Entangled in Sunday’s grace.
The soft glow of dawn
Outlined our heavenly bodies
Showing off like a first kiss
A promise of yet to be…
Now harshly betrayed
You promised you’d stay
Yet you let Monday slip in
Like a spotlight on my face!
